1. Output of China’s refractory products
From January to September 2024, China totally produced 16.63 million tons of refractory products, down 3.29% YoY. Among the total output, dense shaped refractory products were yielded 8.46 million tons, letting down 6.38% YoY; output of insulating refractory products was 628.2 thousand tons, up 11.17% YoY; that of monolithic refractories was produced 7.54 million tons, edging down 0.68% YoY.
2. Imports and exports of China’s refractory raw materials and products
During the first three quarters of 2024, China’s total import and export trading value of refractory raw materials and products reached US$ 2.982 billion, down 14.31% YoY, in which export value amounted to US$ 2.858 billion, down 13.44% YoY, and import value totaled at US$ 124 million, down 30.37% YoY.
During the first nine months, there were about 5.4 million tons of refractory raw materials and products exported from China, climbing up 5.93% YoY, in which exports of refractory raw materials were around 3.8 million tons, up 8.89% YoY, and exports of refractory products were about 1.6 million tons, down 0.49% YoY.
Compared with the same period in 2023, the total export quantity, especially the export quantity of refractory raw materials, continued to grow, albeit modestly, but the export value and the average export price decreased by 13.44% and 18.29% respectively.
The export quantity and year-on-year growth of the seven typical refractory raw materials and the three types of refractory products are shown in the following two charts.
